I continue to work at Waldon Manufacturing assembling industrial sweepers. It has been a good job for me with plenty of opportunities to live out my faith in front of others. Sherry continues to work at the Farm Service Agency in Fairview. Her position became permanent last year for which we are very grateful.
Kaitlyn is in her senior year at Tabor College. It's hard to believe she will be graduating in May! She doesn't know yet what she will be doing, but she is confident that God will provide guidance. Kylie is in her freshman year at Tabor. She is enjoying the freedom college provides along with the abundant social life. She does also study some of the time!
Kylie just received word that she has been hired to work at Tonto Rim Christian Camp in Arizona this summer. It is the camp where Kaitlyn worked last summer. She is excited for this opportunity.
I have looked at several ministry opportunities but none have proven to be the right fit yet. We continue to be open to full-time ministry, but God has seen fit to leave us in Fairview for now.
The biggest change in our lives recently has been my health. I have been battling low energy, fatigue, and muscle weakness for almost a year. I finally found out that I was dealing with low testosterone. I started injections which did help my energy levels but it put me on a roller coaster with my energy. I told Sherry that I was a hormonal mess! Through the process of working with the testosterone and changing doctors I found out that my PSA level had jumped almost a full point within a two month period, although it was still in the normal range. While this was concerning it was not alarming. After questioning the doctor more, he suggested I should see a urologist for peace of mind. I did see a urologist and he found that I had an asymmetrical prostate. This, along with my rising PSA level caused concern. Therefore, he ordered a prostate biopsy. What a "fun" procedure!
On Friday (February 17) we went in to get the results. It is not an easy thing to sit in the doctor's office and hear the words, "You have cancer." Fortunately, we found the cancer early and it is the lowest grade of cancer. But, there is enough cancer present to need some form of treatment - either radiation or removal of the prostate.
After processing and researching we have decided on surgery as the best treatment option because of my age. Sherry wants to keep me around a while yet and not give it a chance to grow or spread! So on Monday, March 27, I will be having surgery at OU Medical Center in Edmond, Oklahoma.
We would appreciate your prayers as we are on a new journey.
Please pray:
*That the cancer would be contained and completely removed with the surgery.
*For the doctor as he performs the surgery. It will be about a 3-3 1/2 hour robotic surgery. Please pray for guidance and steadiness of his hands.
*Please pray for minimal to no side effects from the surgery.
*For complete healing as I will not be able to do any heavy lifting and therefore will be off work a minimum of 4 weeks.
Thanks again for your interest in our lives (evident by the fact you are reading this blog to the end)! We do appreciate it!
